Feel Me

Visual languages of shape, colour, and form allow viewers to connect with art through the body and think about it from many perspectives. These languages contribute to the restorative and therapeutic dimension of my art-making process. My distress disappears in the attractive sculptural and tactile qualities of paint.

My abstract, textural approach has developed out of an interest in the connection between texture and temperament. I represent my feelings by experimenting with colour, material, viscosity and movement. The blue, green, purple, and white colours contribute different feelings and meanings. Having looked at the work of Bram Bogart and Claudia Jowitt, I have also made use of cake decorating implements in my painting process. I am conscious of the anxiety and hopelessness people feel in this pandemic situation. Art allows the mind and body to connect. The relief I feel in making these paintings communicates to others as a gentle form of touch.

An abstract is a visual language of shape, colour, and form that allows viewers to connect with art through the body and think about it from many perspectives. These languages contribute to the restorative and therapeutic dimension of my art-making process. This project of my artwork represents how I used art to heal myself present by texture ,colour, and shape of the movement. My distress disappears in the attractive sculptural and tactile qualities of paint.

My abstract, textural approach has developed out of an interest in the connection between texture and temperament. I represent my feelings by experimenting with colour, material, viscosity, texture, and movement. In my personal aspect, art is not just healing who making art, also the audience might feel it too. Having looked at the work of Bram Bogart and Claudia Jowitt, all worked on sculptural painting but they used different techniques and scales of works. I took some of their technique as pouring the paint, using new equipment, and layering of paints. I have also made use of cake decorating implements in my painting process. I mixed paints with medium to make them thick as impasto. Moreover, as a colour theory, the blue, green, purple colours are analogous relationships that are located adjacent to each other on a colour wheel, also contributing different feelings and meanings.

Furthermore, I am conscious of the anxiety and hopelessness people feel in this pandemic situation. Art allows the mind and body to connect. These are combined with the interaction art with art therapy. The relief I feel in making these paintings communicates to others as a gentle form of touch. The therapy is good for people to get the experience of feeling through many senses as hearing or touching, not just by seeing. They can receive lots of feelings when touching those textures as I received many feelings through the making process. I named my project as ‘Feel Me’ because I want people to participate my work as a touch form, so this is the first feel me as a touching. It is a feeling through hand. The second feel me, I would like to express my feeling through my art. So it would be good if audience could assume my feeling through the art.
