Guitar solution

Opportunity
Physical musical instruments were once the only way to produce music, but rapid advances in audio production technology have introduced a strong contender: digital instruments. Where physical instruments have seen little innovation in centuries and offer only a single sound profile, digital instruments are easily customizable, making physical instruments, unfortunately, feel redundant. This project approach recognizes the advantages of the digital movement and applies them to traditional instruments with modern production methods.

Approach
The CNC machined centre body provides a base from which interchangeable side parts can be placed or removed. These interchangeable parts are hand carved for a more updated ergonomic feel to the guitar and offer a broader range of tonal variations; this was achieved by utilising a range of soft and hard timbers allowing the user to experiment with brighter to warmer tones.

The outcome This product allows users to modify the instrument's structure, resulting in a significant visual and auditory change. Something not apparent in the digital realm of instruments creates a new experience of owning a physical device.
