A supportive routine & task app that improves the quality of life in old age

COVID-19 has brought about numerous changes in our lives, and digitalisation is accelerating, particularly with the increased use of online platforms and the expansion of non-face-to-face services. However, many of the digital services available today do not adequately consider the elderly, which is a significant barrier to their digital adaptation.

My vision for this project is to assist seniors in adapting to the digital environment and resolving the problems they face in their daily lives in the rapidly advancing digital age. The ideal situation and solution would be to provide a specially curated and tailored service in which users benefit from the people and services they are familiar with, resulting in a more positive experience that also encourages active participation and addresses the issue of digital alienation.

Moreover, I hope that this service will help users become familiar with the digital environment so that they will have fewer difficulties when exposed to different types of digital environments. Furthermore, even if another pandemic occurs in the future, I hope that this service will serve as a foundation for us to work together to wisely overcome the situation.

For those of us living in the digital age, digital competency is becoming an essential condition for everyone, regardless of generation, and it is an important factor that will determine the quality of our lives in the future. Under these circumstances, assisting the elderly who are digitally blind is an important element in terms of elderly welfare and social welfare, and it must also be the direction we should pursue from the perspective of the sustainable development goal.

The goal of this project is to highlight the needs of the elderly, which have been overlooked in the past, and to assist them in participating in the digital environment by developing customised services for them to improve their quality of life.

Agile processes and SDGs were used as approaches in the research and design process, and user tests and interviews were conducted on a continuous basis using the double-diamond methodology as a framework. I was able to understand the user better through these processes, and it was also an opportunity to understand the user's problems and needs in their daily life. I hope that the app 'Better Together' created as part of this project improves the quality of life of the elderly by serving as an effective reminder and time management tool for the elderly who face difficulties in daily life due to memory loss.
