Catastrophe is a short animation that captures the adventure of a cat with a hidden identity through realistically generated images in the 3D realm. It is a collaborative project executed with two other students: Allen Medel and New Charttiwong.

Catastrophe is a 3D animation about a lone cat exploring a post-apocalyptic city. Being a silent film, the animation aims to deliver a compelling story under the absence of dialogue based on the question: “How can narratology, with emphasis on imagine seeing, and pre-visualisation be utilised to build up an effective plot twist for a silent short film?” Under the idea of ‘imagine seeing’, the scenes presented to the audience are carefully selected to contribute to the plot twist.

Through this project, I had the opportunity to challenge myself with the task of simulating cat hair and gain experience in Unreal Engine 5 to generate realistic-looking scenes. The rendered images and pre-visualisation work cohesively put emphasis on the visual narration of the animation.
