Downpour

Bachelor of Design Game Design Unreal Engine Imagined Futures Realism

Downpour is a stealth 3D platformer game focused on environment design and visual guide aimed to provide intuitive level design while maintaining the challenging puzzle and enemies. The narrative context for the game is a revenge plot, where the hero lost his last teammate and just found out the location where he could find the information about the murderer. He is on his way to infiltrate the hostile area, takedown enemies on his way and be ready to retreat with the intelligence. The project is to create a detailed, immersive world with an in-depth level that keeps refreshing players’ minds and the motivation to explore. I believe in creating a convincing world, the first thing is to create photorealistic visuals for the project with the focus being the development of the modular level design kit.

The game ‘Death Stranding’ hugely inspired my project, so I decided to follow this sense of art and turn it into my visual style. Based on the unique world mechanics of nonstop acid-raining, I tended to make the art direction eerie and creepy, dark themed environment with emptiness. To achieve these aspects on visual, I collect environment and prop design moodboards from the game ‘Death Stranding’ and ‘The Last of Us’. Upon that, I created several concepts and blockout models to give me a better view of what this will look like in 3d.
