Miaoting Wu

This body of work is influenced by the paintings of Claude Monet.

As a response to the pressures of contemporary living, this work exhibits my ideal version of life. Inspired by the colours in Claude Monet's water lily paintings, I was able to construct a dreamlike scenario of my ideal life in my mind's eye. It is a life embedded in nature and my quest for freedom, calm and minimalism.

This work focuses on understated, minimalist silhouettes made from natural cotton and linen fabrics; garments that allow the wearer to hide in my version of an ideal life conveying a sense of freedom, and peacefulness within, a life lived in nature.
