Flourishing in the Fashion World

Bachelor of Design Event Design Interior Design Moving Image Performance Public

“Flourishing in the Fashion World” is a space dedicated to Auckland-based fashion designers who strive to make a name for themselves in the fashion industry.

The site is a transformation of Imperial Lane, which is located in the Central Business District of Auckland City. Currently, Imperial Lane is a neglected passage between Fort Land and lower Queen Street. This design proposal creates a seamless link between the day-to-day retail scene on Queen Street and Fort Lane’s nightlife.

The site is divided into three sections, each with an allocated purpose, creating a unique atmosphere. Firstly, the primary space is the retail store, located on the second floor and accessible during the day. Here, designers can display and sell their garments. Secondly, the ground floor is dedicated to hosting runway events that support designers in showcasing and advertising their newest collections. This area is exclusively accessed through Fort Lane during the evenings. Thirdly, the lounge and bar area above the event space presents exclusive experiences in which guests and designers are invited to after-parties for networking and entertainment. During the day, this space can operate as a cafe with direct access to the retail store.
