This body of work is an exploration of 1800s undergarments within a slow fashion contemporary setting. Designed for longevity, the focus was placed on structure and delicacy.

Researching how garments were made, stored and repaired in the 19th Century, highlights how wasteful the current fashion industry is today, designs are often focused on trends rather than value. I approached this body of work experimentally with a focus on long-lasting wardrobe versatile necessities. Using simple silhouettes with delicate details, I worked to create garments that are treasured, to be worn season after season. High-quality natural fabrics (wool and silk) purchased from local, sustainably minded suppliers, the intricate method of pleating in combination with a monochromatic colour palette, allow each individual piece to be interchangeable.
