An installation involving moving image works, projections and audio pieces, this work reflects the cyclic tempo of the natural world.

I spent many dusks watching the sunset and many mornings watching the sunrise, every time always different from the last. I closely followed weather patterns, the timing of tides, the position of the sun, the size and direction of the swell and the phases of the moon. To understand the natural processes observed during these moments, I adopted the methodologies of an ecologist, a meteorologist, an environmentalist and a philosopher. Observing the Oscillations, synergies, diffraction patterns, orbital movement, and ebb and flow, that now inform the mode of making

As a result of harmonious planetary alignment, sun rays spill through the cosmos illuminating the Earth’s surface. The Earth spins on its axis and its rotation through the tide composes a rhythm of ebb and flow. The ocean is in sync with this cyclical tempo, that is formed by nearing celestial bodies. And so we see the movement of the earth, reflected in the oscillation of the tides and within the reverberation of the sun. This work In Sync and In Touch was developed through a ritual of observing the sunrise, sunset and tides, over a series of months. Now manifesting as an installation involving moving image and sound, all facets of the work reflect the cyclic rhythm of the natural world. It is about using the earth’s natural tempo to guide the decisions. With the hopes of encouraging a change in mindset, that we should no longer see humans as separate from the natural world, but understand that we are a part of a system that operates as an entirely interconnected entity.
