'R3AR V13W'
‘R3AR V13W’ is a short hybrid animation that follows the dark fantasy of a taxi driver, Toby.
In the narrative, we are inside Toby’s dreamscape of committing violent murders against his ‘victims’, who represent the difficult passengers that he deals with in the real world. In this project, I created an environment that reveals Toby's subconscious mind while he shows signs of psychological distress.
Within my group capstone project, titled ‘R3AR V13W’, I attempt to create an environment that resides inside the subconscious mind of the main character, Toby. Throughout this project, I made it my goal to create an uncanny environment that would showcase the hybrid aesthetic our group worked toward. For me, creating this environment was important because I believed it helped create a believable visualisation of Toby’s dreamlike view of the world. I aimed to also mirror the psychological distress Toby experiences through his made-up environment. Over this year, the team (Jackson Rowe, Eugenie Chylek-Peters) and I created the whole city landscape from scratch and we believe it ultimately answers my research question.
