Experimentation, curiosity, and playfulness

Scribbling is one of the methods pertaining to rebellion utilized in my art. It shows a release from confinement and from traditional art practices. My art is created from a stream of consciousness which expresses liberation and is freeing and fun. I engage with childlike experimentation, curiosity and playfulness. I believe that the process of creation should be enjoyable. Artistic freedom is important to me.

There is a cacophony of mark-making exploration in my busy and heavily layered multi-media paintings. I prefer a method of artmaking which explores self-expression. My art practice utilizes a continuous process of responding to the layers of art. I frequently step away from the canvas and revaluate what I should do next. I build up layers in my paintings through scribbles, brushstrokes, and layering due to dissatisfaction. I cover up and obscure unsuccessful sections of the canvas. I determine if a section of art is unsuccessful through intuition and feeling. My paintings become a personal record of change and development. This is expressed through the repeated repainting over artwork and the date and times I write on. I include snippets from my personal life, both past and present.
