Pig Empire
Pig Empire is an animated sci-fi short that asks how can subverting audiences’ expectations with the use of repetitive scenes, characters, and plots within the sci-fi genre lead to meaningful storytelling. To me most sci-fi films/ shows have become so overly saturated with how it recycles these story elements that it often can lead to an uninspiring narrative. Pig Empire embraces all of these overdone elements in its narrative and visual direction referencing franchises like The Matrix, The Terminator, Star Wars, and Star Trek. My thought process was to create an entertaining and somewhat thought-provoking narrative by showing all of these repetitive elements to make those that watch Pig Empire think it's a traditional sci-fi narrative but hopefully with the use of combing 2D and 3D effects along with creative character design and restructuring of tradition three-act storytelling can lead to a film that's fun and entertaining to all.
