An attempt to control chaos
As a designer, I feel as if I’ve always been taught to either work in a very structured and disciplined way, or to work in a very sporadic and experimental way. In the past, I’ve found myself tending to work in a way that develops quite clean-cut silhouettes and creates very structured garments that may not push my design capabilities as they could. But when you compare this design style to my personality, it doesn’t really match. I’ve found myself in a place of contradictions, where I want to work in a controlled manner but know that I don’t always act in that way. The focus on these paradoxes led to the formation of my concept, where I use both methods of working in an attempt to control chaos. This is ‘The Making of the Man”. A personal project that has been two years in the making, with its final form being the duo of my graduate fashion collection, matched with a 6 track EP released under the same name.
