A Censored State explores the evolution of censorship in Eastern and Western contexts. The project investigates how design can critically engage with issues of digital sovereignty and online regulation. It is designed for a global audience, encouraging reflection on the hidden systems that filter and control digital information.

The project repositions censorship not only as a mechanism of restriction but as a reflection of cultural values and political philosophy. This framing is particularly relevant in an age where algorithms, misinformation, and platform monopolies  influence what people see, share, and believe.

Through interactive and animated data visualisation, A Censored State presents complex information dynamically, allowing users to explore shifting patterns of control and connection. Storyboarding, iterative prototyping, and didactic design methods structure the experience as both educational and reflective.

Ultimately, the project contributes a culturally nuanced perspective to global conversations on censorship and digital ethics. It challenges audiences to reconsider how autonomy and truth are constructed online, offering a space for critical engagement with the politics and values shaping the digital world.
