Visualised interpretations of emotions provided through multimedia visual guides.
This practice-led design project seeks to answer the question: “How can visualised interpretations of emotions support audiences to recognise and communicate their emotions through multimedia visual guides?” The project focuses on supporting the education of the varied levels of emotion and assisting in understanding when they are present in our lives. It aims to make contributions to the fields of visual communication and design, as well as to human understanding and the expression of emotions. The core purpose is to utilise common design elements in a way that helps audiences interpret varied and overlapping emotions, to make it easier to understand the various emotions and, in turn, communicate them more effectively to those around us. In this project, visual interpretations are used to help build the audience’s awareness and understanding of their emotions. The illustration style portrays the overlapping signs and feelings associated with particular emotional responses. The illustrations created for this project rely strongly on ideas from pictograms, motifs, and abstract art to enhance the visual storytelling, making the illustrations easier to understand and connect to.
