Kaye Pambid

Action is a graphic novel retail store located in the heart of Newmarket. The concept of my work is the motion lines also known as speed or action lines seen in manga and comic books. This was inspired by the condition of the site where it reflects this effect well, the space is located in a busy and diverse streetscape where Nuffield Street and Balm Street intersect, whether you are darting between retail stores or as thoroughfare to and from the train station.

Action is a space that presents another world, an escape from the business of the real world.

The entrance is an interactive space acting as a comic gutter, a transition space that leads people from the outside world to the fictional world. The ambiance of the space was set to dramatic and moody lighting mimicking the scene when these motion lines occur both before and after.
