This study delves into the exploration of deterioration and portrays how beauty is seen in the broken material through fabrication and process-led techniques in an androgynous streetwear collection. My work analyzes the progressive concept of taking this processed man-made textile and breaking it down through deconstructive practices to reference its original form. By inviting you to feel the connection through the commotion of materiality, I aim to acknowledge that all things grow, age, and decay over time in ways that can be beautiful and in ways that reflect the tension between the artificial and the natural. Craft-based methods provided a means of restoration that allowed me to experience my concept more personally and illustrate denim in its most essential form.
