Belonging & Disconnect
In my works I explore the interplay between belonging and disconnect, through themes or religion, whakapapa, childhood, and dreams. Asking myself questions like ‘Who am I?’, ‘What/where is my place?’, ‘How do I create my own place/accept my own peace?’ The canvas becomes a space in which these themes thread together, and navigate my own identity, through ever-evolving self-discovery, to find one’s sense of home.
My art becomes a dialogue—between the tangible and intangible, the past and present, tradition and rebellion. It invites viewers to step into my narratives within each piece, exploring the nuances of belonging and disconnect in the complex tapestry of life.
