Connection, Discovery, Experience.
B-SIDE is a vinyl record bar located at 298 Broadway, Newmarket. It was designed to connect people through music and drinks. The project originated from my experience as an international student who enjoys vinyl but does not have the space or income to collect records. This limitation became the motivation to design a space where anyone can experience vinyl music without needing to own it. The bar encourages visitors to slow down and appreciate sound in a physical and social way, contrasting with today’s fast-paced digital culture. The name refers to the second side of a vinyl record, symbolising what lies beneath the surface, discovery and deeper experience. The design focuses on three main ideas: connection, discovery, and experience. Warm wood tones and metal grids were used to express rhythm, structure, and comfort within the space. A DJ booth hosts live events every Friday night, each featuring a different genre to create new energy and atmosphere.
