Between Tides: Tracing Presence through Material and Motion

Bachelor of Visual Arts Photography Moving Image Material Thinking Ecology and Sustainability Surface Manipulation

My practice explores how presence and material processes intersect within coastal environments. I work between analogue photography and digital animation, using film exposed to salt water to reveal chemical reactions that form unpredictable, organic structures. These forms often resemble the patterns of microorganisms, shaped by both human and environmental forces. Grounded in eco-phenomenology, my work traces how perception and experience emerge through encounters with place and material. Through processes of chance, transformation, and environmental conditions, I aim to reveal the subtle rhythms and connections that exist between self, site, and ecology.
