But if you look long enough, eventually, you will see me.

Bachelor of Visual Arts Moving Image Installation Feminism Temporary Art Practices

My projection and installation practice examines the historical and philosophical considerations of seeing and perceiving. Beginning with examining light as a source of abstraction instead of clarity, my practice has evolved into installation that questions the geometry of familiar interior spaces. I question a perceived notion that links illumination and understanding. I’ve considered light, projection, installation, and time as materials to abstract, creating a work where perception and understanding form independently from each other. The shadow of the viewer interrupting the light becomes a presence in the way the projected image is encountered. I place importance on the viewer’s encounter with the work, the way the mind fills in the gaps of unidentified movements of shadow, the time of the day they view it, how long they spend with it.
