Weaving Intergenerational Memories through Archival Photographs and Storytelling

This research project goes on a journey to honour the memory and legacy of World War Two veteran Ron Piaggi, the researchers' great-grandfather. This is done by weaving together memories, photographs, and storytelling. With a focus on preserving the living history passed down through generations. This project combines key design methods such as collecting historical materials, digitising the material, using digital collage techniques, and crafting a book through binding and book construction techniques, resulting in the design outcome of a book titled 'Capturing Legacy'.

This research project seeks to inspire young people to listen and engage with the stories of their elders, ensuring that the invaluable stories of a previous generation are not lost. The project aims to bring remembrance and bridge the gap between generations, preventing the rich history of wartime sacrifice from fading away as the last witnesses to these events depart.
