Trelise Gribble

Cobalt Corner is a retail experience designed to feel as though you are inside the void of the comic gutter. The retail experience creates an intimate space for customers to slip between the pages and enter the void. Customers are invited to illustrate and write their stories on the working surfaces. The customer’s comic expressions are collated and crafted into a book sold in store. Magnified structures of moments of a book create a feeling of being dwarfed and enveloped in the gutter. Tables inspired by a page turning back and wall panels inspired by pages of a book. An undulating concrete exterior conceals an immersive interior atmosphere. The hue of cobalt blue throughout the space has been used to invoke our subconscious. This colour is surely related to pure space and its associated immaterial values reach beyond what our vision allows suggesting when looking into the blue it is a never-ending void.
