Comic Grounds

Comic Grounds is a multi-purpose space of a comic & graphic novel retail store as well as a coffee store. The concept takes inspiration from the graphic linework of the comic gutter, the linear language used within the store creates the space within the lines where imagination can run wild.  This venue strives to embody the concept of space creating atmosphere with the strong graphic language found in the form of colour & linear accents.

The project’s graphic language began through cardboard discoveries when laser-cut that create a dynamic relationship between 2D and 3D depending on your perspective. With it, emerged the idea of creating different perspectives and illusions within the space that change when you move throughout it. This was the start of my gate production as well as the screens that divide the space.

I designed the comic book shelving with the customer experience in mind. The shelving itself is slanted to allow for the comic book covers to be displayed towards the customers for ease of comic book selection and browsing.
