A South Asian influenced design system, aimed to uplift South Asian women with curly hair
Using communication design to develop a brand identity to represent the South Asian community within the curly community. Curlhood has been designed to educate South Asian women on understanding curly hair and how to care for it in a way that will make them feel most confident. Curlhood will educate these women, and guide them through what can be intimidating, into something enjoyable. To turn a feature of themselves that has been suppressed for various reasons; to be the reason they find another level of confidence. Curlhood is here to dismantle the negative ideologies and change that narrative into something empowering. Through communication design, I have created a curly hair brand to be that resource for South Asian women with curly hair. I am heavily invested into this project, due to my personal experiences that have been the driving force for wanting the representation and resources that Curlhood offers.
