Designate is a bespoke furniture store, an environment for New Zealand artists and designers to showcase their specialised skills and talents through the art of craftsmanship. Situated on 298 Broadway, Newmarket, Designate creates a space where materiality methods tie into a customer focused experience. An immersive, textural and tactile environment for customers to interact, discover and explore. Where the mass production of products has become normalised and lacks individuality, in my design each handcrafted artefact is a one-off bespoke piece. Each creation is unique; carved with memories reflecting the untold journey of stories waiting to be told. This design is intended for users to interact and touch elements within the store, elevating into an immersive customer experience. Designate extends beyond the traditional furniture store, embodying a connection between the customer, artefact and the maker.
