Stories of my Childhood

In my practice I am looking at the idea of looking at childhood memories through a nostalgic lens. This idea came from a trip to Fiji that I took with my family, where my parents were born. My dad told me that he doesn’t like to go back to Suva as its changed so much since he was a kid. I got me thinking about how lots of people, including me tend to glamourise their childhood. I like this idea that my memories may not be completely accurate or true to what happened during my childhood, but they are uniquely my perspective. I wanted to focus on the diasporic experiences which weren’t as evident to me growing up but have had to confront as I got older.
