For my capstone project I worked in a two-person team with a game developer to create a first-person game in Unreal Engine, where I focused on creating and implementing all animation systems through hands-on practice. Throughout this year, I built motion capture and keyframe animation pipelines, created character animations, and integrated them into a functional game with immersive player and NPC movements. The research demonstrates that learning complex technical animation through active implementation, rapidly prototyping, testing, and refining, produces better results than traditional planning-heavy approaches. This practice-based methodology developed essential technical animation skills including pipeline development, asset creation, system integration, and iterative problem-solving for game development.
