Proposal Drug-Harm Reduction Centre to Enhance Aucklands Wellbeing

Exodos proposes a new approach to harm reduction, offering a safe space to administer drugs, discretionary from law enforcement. Physical support centres are scarce and are tragically underfunded- often dark, poorly maintained buildings. This design proposal offers sterile equipment, drug testing technologies, and overdose preventative medications. Harm reduction centres directly reduce many health and wellbeing implications, enhancing the Hauora of Auckland's community. Designed to provide help in an anonymous yet welcoming space, the intentional design of this space fights the stigma surrounding reaching out for help. The media has painted drug use as a controversial topic that decreases the value of those associated with it. Exodos is a spatial manifest of manaakitanga driven design, exploring the links between the value of design overcoming the stigma of its programming.
