Framing Auckland
Framing Auckland is an illustrated poster campaign exploring how sharing personal experiences can strengthen Aucklanders' connection to their shared environment. The 2022 Quality of Life Survey found that while 71% of Aucklanders value a sense of community, only 47% feel a sense of community in their neighbourhoods. Framing Auckland responds to this gap by bringing people's individual experiences into a shared public conversation.
The campaign brings together a collection of people, places and everyday moments from across the city. Each poster features an individual's handwritten 'Auckland', a short description of their experience and an illustration representing it. By sharing familiar places and discovering how others experience the city, audiences are encouraged to recognise common interests, explore different experiences and see themselves as part of a wider Auckland community. A consistent blue visual identity connects the collection, while the illustrations themselves and the systems varying accent colours give each poster its own character. The hashtag #FramingAuckland invites further contributions.
