FUSION FOLIO

Fusion Folio is a hybrid café and workshop inspired by growing up in a mixed-cultural household where the kitchen was a place of translation, care, and cultural conversation. Located at 298 Broadway, Newmarket—an active urban crossroads—it opens itself to the street with transparency and welcome, embodying a “third space” where cultures meet, overlap, and transform. Influenced by Homi K. Bhabha’s ideas of hybridity, the design celebrates identity formed in-between traditions, creating something new rather than mimicking any single culture. Manaakitanga—the spirit of generosity, dignity, and hospitality—guides every detail, from shared tables to open kitchen views. The ground floor is lively and communal, filled with the aroma of baking and collaboration, while the basement offers a quieter sanctuary for reflection and connection. Materials echo the texture of bread—warm browns with hints of hidden red and orange—symbolising comfort, passion, and the layered nature of cultural fusion. It feels like home, shared.
