Historically clothing production required craftsmanship and time.

In an industry dominated by mass production, my work seeks to highlight historical fashion practices as an alternative to fast fashion. My work is a tribute to the working class women who have been the backbone of the textile and garment industry for centuries. Through historical pattern making and hand sewing techniques I have made garments that highlight the makers hand in the final product. My use of smocking connects me to the 19thcentury country wives who pioneered the technique.

I value quality in fashion and have shaped a sustainable practice around this value. Through my work, I advocate for a fashion landscape that prioritises quality and the importance of fashion history. I aim to make clothes that forge a connection between the maker and wearer.
