Xinran Ji

Her Choice is a visual storytelling project exploring Chinese women’s self-awakening and freedom of choice. The front of the concertina book tells the story of Liu Zhaodi, who breaks free from traditional values and social expectations to discover her identity. The reverse introduces other women from Chinese history and culture who challenged traditional gender roles in different fields. Combining Chinese ink-inspired illustrations, traditional calligraphy, and cultural symbolism, the project uses a website, posters, and postcards to promote its message. It encourages young women to challenge restrictive expectations, embrace their individuality, and confidently choose their own futures.
