Hotel Newmarket is a hotel centred around slow tourism

Hotel Newmarket is a hotel centred on the principles of slow tourism, located at 298 and 302 Broadway, Newmarket, with Nuffield Lane running behind. Slow tourism encourages mindful travel through meaningful cultural connections, sustainability, and quality experiences. My design embraces this concept by creating opportunities for guests to slow down, reflect, and connect more deeply with New Zealand. Hotel Newmarket connects people, place, and materials. The cafe offers a social space where stories, recommendations, and local knowledge can be exchanged, inviting interaction between tourists and locals. Native New Zealand materials and existing site elements embed guests within the local context, fostering a deeper appreciation of this land. Together, these design decisions encourage meaningful connections between people, respect for place, and a more considered way of travelling. Hotel Newmarket celebrates the value of a slower stay.
