Heart health literacy resource, for the youth of Aotearoa.
Aotearoa’s heart healthcare system is on the verge of collapse. With emerging risk factors and heart disease rates rising in youth, we must subvert the “I’m young and healthy, I’ll be fine” mindset. Existing resources are limited, failing to address their ever-changing world and the friction of information spread across various websites and brochures.
To address this, I explored how infographics and data visualisation can engage youth to improve heart health literacy through integrated physical and digital platforms. Literacy intervention requires these integrated platforms to successfully educate, appealing to a digital generation’s need for interaction and accessibility. Honouring Gen-Z’s values of transparency and authenticity keeps this project honest, without diminishing the subject of health, while celebrating health literacy in a visually engaging way, all while avoiding overly corporate aesthetics.
I utilised intuitive design systems for an empowering experience, allowing users to access information easily. Incorporating infographics engages users by making complex information easy to understand. I aim to challenge your perception of heart health, whilst empowering you with the heart health literacy to keep you, your friends, and whānau happy and healthy.
