Jack's Journey

Bachelor of Design Illustration Publication Autoethnographic Health and wellbeing Storytelling

The practice-led research project Jack’s Journey is a picture book containing multiple short stories about my social anxiety experiences. The project considers how sharing these experiences through an anthropomorphic character and vector illustration can help others with their social anxiety. To inform the project I use knowledge about social anxiety disorder to inform my autoethnographic approach, the use of anthropomorphism in character design and how picture books can be used to tell stories. The project is brought to life through mind mapping, a carefully considered illustration process and an autoethnographic approach to writing. Jack’s Journey contributes knowledge to the realm of picture books that are created through autoethnography, anthropomorphism and vector illustration.
