Taste the Island You Never Knew Existed

Lakaz Moris is a celebration inspired by the flavours of Mauritius, bringing a taste of the island’s heritage through traditional Creole pickled recipes. Rooted in a small but culturally vibrant nation, the brand sought to make the Mauritian culture more visible to the world. The idea was to create a brand identity that could introduce the richness of the culture to a New Zealand audience, whilst still resonating with the Mauritian diaspora community. The designs drew inspiration from the island’s motifs, and colours that were inspired by the tropical landscapes in Mauritius.

This project was inspired by my deep connection to my culture and a desire to share the beauty of Mauritius, which often goes unseen. It reflects a personal commitment to giving visibility to underrepresented cultures and celebrating their stories beyond their borders.
