In desperately trying to recover what she has lost, an anthropomorphic lynx loses sight of who she once was.
Lost Sight is a dialogue-free 2D animated short exploring how visual storytelling and narrative devices can communicate the trauma and moral conflict experienced by a character.
The film follows Lynxie, an anthropomorphic lynx who loses her eye in a traumatic animal attack. Desperate to recover what she has lost, she becomes fixated on a one-eyed, foxlike magical creature whose eye possesses regenerative properties that could heal her. However, killing the creature to take its eye would mean betraying the values she once upheld as a dedicated magical wildlife conservationist.
Through character expressions, character and narrative design, shot composition, symbolism, and other storytelling techniques, Lost Sight explores the idea that "hurt people hurt people", illustrating how trauma can perpetuate a cycle of harm. It examines how far someone might go to undo their own pain, and whether the pursuit of personal recovery can come at the expense of someone else's wellbeing.
