Making space for Auckland’s more-than-human inhabitants
This project uses Newmarket’s Nuffield Lane to explore how manaakitanga (care) can extend beyond human-focused design to include the flora and fauna that share our urban environments. In response to urban development that pushes these inhabitants to the margins, the project reimagines overlooked spaces as opportunities for more-than-human life to gather, rest and thrive alongside us. It challenges us to reconsider who our cities are designed for and how we might better accommodate all our neighbours.
