A Journey of Self-Discovery and Cultural Exploration through Creative Type Design.

“Māhuri Display” is a practice-led project that blends self-discovery with cultural exploration through handcrafted type design. Focused on cultural appreciation, this project looks at typography as more than just a visual tool—it’s a way to express personal growth and connect with cultural heritage. By working closely with whānau and the Māori community, I gained a deeper understanding of Māori traditions and used this knowledge to inform my creative process. The project culminates in a type-specimen publication that encourages others to reflect on their own cultural identity, understand its impact on their sense of self, and explore how to honor and share it for future generations.
