A Celebration of Imperfection

This is a practice-led project that aims to facilitate discussion around people’s relationships with digital technologies and challenge our growing reliance on them.

This project seeks to expand this discussion by exploring the relationships between processes, tools, and the maker and highlighting the imperfections that result from these collaborations.

The glitch is used as a symbol to illustrate the concept of imperfection and has
a visual connection to digital processes. This project explores a range of analogue and digital processes, including risograph printing, screen printing, animation, and laser cutting to produce artefacts that include animations, interactive poster, flip-books and a publication.

These tactile artefacts encourage interaction and are accompanied by analogue glitch recreations. Helping to highlight and celebrate the beauty in imperfection. The newspaper publication reflects the ephemeral nature of the digital image.

This project contributes to ongoing discourses about the role of digital technologies in people’s lives and explores how analogue processes can enhance—or be enhanced by—digital outputs.
