Midtown Type is a collection and documentation of type forms found on High Street, Vulcan Lane, Shortland Street and Queen Street. The work focuses on the shapes and histories of letterforms that help build the cultural identity of Auckland's Midtown District. 

The hand-bound book is designed so that the viewer, can follow the journey and learn about the rich cultural history of the area. The letterforms are sequenced in the order of the included route.

The project also acts as an archive, preserving the forms, since the content is not digitised and there is a risk of the letters being lost along with the structures they reside on. This snapshot also covers the cultural history of the area, including a range of temporary and permanent typographic features.
