Perfectly Imperfect
This project explores a solution to repurpose fruit and vegetables that are too wonky, big, small or discoloured and can’t be sold or exported, through a branded visual identity. The outcomes are a lunchbox and collectable cards for the kids, and a carry box with seed paper for the wider audience. In addition to these is the brand manual book and a children’s picture book, embracing wonky shapes and encouraging acceptance of them. The methodology involves lots of material experimentation with potato stamping, vegetable dyes, homemade paper and using sustainable, compostable materials informing my visual design decisions. The project aims to reduce food wastage by embracing imperfect produce to people, to make them more familiar and accepting of them.
