Mr. Taniwha, a 2D Animation

Mr. Taniwha is a 2D animated short film that follows businessman Kupe during his morning before an important meeting, is rudely disrupted by a cheeky taniwha who has suddenly appeared to ruin his big day.

This was a self-produced project that plays with themes of the 'Urban Māori' in 1960s Aotearoa. Kupe has left his whānau and whenua for western corporate success, but in the process he has lost a part of his identity. Mr. Taniwha is here to give Kupe a reminder of what he's left behind.
