The series, Mustangs employs the aesthetic of oil paint to convey the conceptualisation of an auto-fictional world. A desaturated colour palette, consisting of yellow ochre, olive green, and greys, is meticulously applied in thin layers, revealing the underlying rusty underpainting. The incomplete rendering of these layers serves as a dynamic storyboard actively under construction, indicating that the world-building process is ongoing and not yet solidified, definitive, or tangible. The world being created exists as a non-place.

The exploration of themes such as girlhood, unity, and the ideal of pursuit within coming-of-age contexts is manifested through the nondescript portrayal of female figures. Compositions inspired by cinematography in films depict non-linear narratives, conveying an overall ambiguous and eerie tone to the works. This thematic exploration of female identity, freedom, and the ideal of pursuit within an auto-fiction context holds relevance to my works; I am engaged in the conceptualisation of a non-place inhabited by girls. By combining film conventions with personal experiences of growing up alongside two sisters in the Waitakere Ranges, I aim to create a distinct feminine auto-fictional world.
