Camellia
My project explores the role of color temperature in animation and its impact on the clarity of visual storytelling. Focusing on this animation project ‘Camellia’, inspired by Fuelled (Xu, 2021) and the novel The Lady of the Camellias (Dumas fils, 2013), through the lenses of Gestalt theory to examine how color temperature influences audience perception and how audiences perceive visual elements as coherent units, allowing for effective storytelling through visual patterns.
I considered focusing on audience perception and visual interpretation by utilizing color temperature and Gestalt principles into the animation's design, enhancing narrative clarity and engagement.
The findings indicate that the intentional use of color temperature and Gestalt principles demonstrates their ability to shape the perception of emotion from the visual information the audience receives, enhances narrative coherence, and deepens audience connection with the visual storytelling. Additionally, these elements enhance visual storytelling and let the audiences to engage actively with the narrative, filling in intentional gaps. Overall, "Camellia" illustrates the critical role of thoughtful design in animation, not only contributing to the understanding of effective animation techniques but also offering valuable insights for creators aiming to enhance their storytelling techniques through visual elements.
