My project explored How multiple art styles enhance atmosphere and emotional impact. I created Para-Dies, a 2D pixel RPG set in a corrupted paradise, where visual changes reflect the protagonist’s emotional state. I was drawn to this idea through my love of storytelling and visual art, especially how style can shift meaning, not just appearance.
This approach felt relevant because emotional storytelling in games is often tied to music or dialogue, but I wanted to test how visual stylisation alone could carry mood. I use pixel art, different UI design, and painterly CGs to reflect changes in tone. The result is a playable vertical slice where emotion and style are closely connected. This project helped me explore not just how to make a game, but how visual design can shape how players feel, interpret, and remember interactive stories.
