Discovering the Extended Personal Identity

This research explores various ways to create an extended personal identity–an extension of the self that interconnects with others: an identity that is more attuned to the self, not necessarily for commercial gain but for self-expression and self-distinction.

Through the methods of re:collection, reflection, and re:curation, I looked into my identity and created a system that allowed me to remember, highlight, and reflect on parts of myself. My Memory Card Library contains collected introspected memories and experiences that I can deeply identify with. These catalogued moments can then be used to study and curate different aspects of my identity.

In a time where digital media, social networks, and artificial intelligence are prevalent, we lose our individuality by mindlessly swiping through other people’s content. The convenience of digitally recording every moment does not necessarily capture meaningful memories. The Memory Card Library encourages you to look inward and discover your identity in a more intentional and introspective way.
