Designing creatures beyond human fragility
The human form, bound by its fragility, becomes a canvas for exploring boundless terror. Within the realm of ‘body horror,’ a bottomless nightmare where flesh meets the grotesque, lies an opportunity to transcend beyond perception, tearing away from the conventional limits of anatomy. As a digital artist drawn into bloody and sanguinary narratives, I have explored their immersive depths through cinematic storytelling and critical analysis to manifest my design of monstrosity through reinterpretation.
This project was critically designed by examining the body horror trope within classic and modern films to inform the design of a meticulously crafted creature called the ‘Aquamorph’, also known as ‘ Sarah Monett’. The culmination is a 3D printed model accompanied by a short fiction backstory, offering a creative exploration of the creature's genesis, themes, and motifs.
