Remnants Still Remain

Bachelor of Visual Arts Painting Printmaking Sculpture

Remnants Still Remain investigates the relationship between my subconscious experiences and conscious experiences through entities, figures and landscapes that recur within my dreams. I am interested in how conscious experiences and emotions are transformed into more fantastical entities, why certain entities repeat and why certain entities change through different dreams. Rather than finding a definitive answer to each entity, I am embracing the uncertainty that remains with me after I wake to explore the remnants of my subconscious experiences.

My process begins written, gathering these fragments of my dreams, then transforming them into drawings, printmaking, painting and sculpture. Through this process I progressively extend my subconscious dream world into the physical world.

Remnants Still Remain brings together all the individual entities, dream scapes, figures and invites the exploration of the ever changing relationship between the subconscious and conscious, the familiar becoming the unfamiliar and the relationship between the remembering the experience and the actual dream.

I want to invite the audience to spend more time considering their own experience and emotions and how it might transform in the dream world, also considering what Remnants Still Remain after they wake.
